Trevor Bauers Season Ends With Extension Of His Leave

MLB and the players’ union granted Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer an extension of his administrative leave to April 16, meaning he will miss the start of the season.

After a lady in Southern California accused him of abuse during two separate sexual encounters earlier in the year, he was suspended without pay for seven days beginning on July 2 in accordance with the union and MLB’s joint domestic violence and sexual assault policy. Since then, MLB and the union have reached multiple contract extensions.

Trevor Bauers Season Ends With Extension Of His Leave

Trevor Bauers is still Getting Ready for the MLB Season in 2022

Bauer’s co-agents, Jon Fetterolf and Rachel Luba, issued a statement on his behalf on Thursday, saying, “Mr. Bauer is working with the MLB inquiry and looks forward to resolving this problem.” He is still getting ready for the MLB season in 2022.

The league’s probe did not lead to the administrative leave, and the statement made clear that it was not a disciplinary action.

After June 29th, Bauer did not make any more appearances on the mound. In his first season with the Dodgers, he made 17 appearances and posted an 8-2 record with a 2.59 ERA. His $28 million compensation from 2016 had already dispersed.

The Pasadena Police Department released an announcement on June 30, 2021, stating that they would be conducting an inquiry into the claims.

Bauer’s Representative Jon Fetterolf issued a Statement Refuting the Charges.

The woman had requested a restraining order in August, but the judge ruled against her. During the same month, the Pasadena Police Department concluded their investigation and handed off the case to Los Angeles County prosecutors.

Bauer was placed on administrative leave during the 2017-18 season, and that leave was extended nine times. On June 28 against the San Francisco Giants, he made his final start for the Dodgers.

After it was announced in February that Bauer would not face criminal charges, ESPN’s Jeff Passan provided a detailed analysis of what could be in store for him.

MLB is Allegedly Still Looking into the Situation, thus Bauer is still on Leave For the Time being.

According to a statement released at the time by Bauer’s attorneys Fetterolf and Shawn Holley, Bauer was relieved by the ruling and noted that the judge had also vacated the temporary restraining order granted on July 2.

Bauer, the previous year’s National League Cy Young Award winner, signed a three-year deal with the Dodgers in the winter prior to this season. He made only 17 starts this year, but still managed an 8-5 record with a 2.59 ERA.

Last Words

Bauer rejected the abuse allegations against him in a seven-minute video released to YouTube after the prosecutors’ ruling. Upon her advice, he claims, the two engaged in rough sex in accordance with previously established boundaries. He claims that every time they met, she spent the night and they joked the whole time.

Individuals who report being sexual assault victims are not routinely named by the Associated Press.

Bauer signed a three-year, $102 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers after winning the Cy Young Award with the Cincinnati Reds in 2020.
