The GotG director’s response came as a result of a tweet. The Twitter user demanded to know why Marvel and Disney were continuing to employ the Jurassic World actor, going so far as to suggest that Patrick Wilson, star of Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, take his position in the MCU. Upon viewing the tweet, Gunn leapt to the defence of his main guy by replying:

There has been steady development on 3 for a while now. The threequel is being written by Gunn and his crew, but there has been a rising push on Twitter for Pratt to be replaced as Star-Lord.

Pratt Debuted as One of the initial Members of the Cosmic Team in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Before joining the MCU, he was best known for his role as Andy on the famous sitcom Parks and Recreation; however, since making his way to the forefront of the Jurassic World franchise, he has become one of the biggest cinematic stars of his generation.

In terms of his Marvel Studios stint, Pratt has played Star-Lord several more times, notably in 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. (2), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Formerly, Pratt’s membership in the Zoe Church, a spinoff of the megachurch Hillsong Church, was a point of contention. “We are a gay welcoming church, but we are not a church that promotes a gay lifestyle,” Brian Houston, the global senior pastor of Hillsong, stated in a blog post in 2015.

In response to a tweet by Elliot Page, who had previously criticised Pratt for his involvement with Zoe Church, Pratt said, “If you are a renowned actor and you belong to an organisation that dislikes a certain set of people, don’t be surprised if someone simply asks why it’s not addressed.”

Regardless of the varying assessments of the actor, Gunn has made it clear that he has no intention of replacing Chris Pratt. The director is presently filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. The release date for the third film is May 5, 2023.
